Investment Theory Through Live Discussion

Our webinars aren't recorded lectures you watch alone at midnight. They're real conversations where you can ask why portfolio theory actually matters—or why it sometimes doesn't. Starting September 2025, we're hosting monthly sessions that dig into the practical side of investment thinking.

Finding Your Starting Point

Most people show up to webinars wondering if they're in the right place. We've organized ours around three common situations—pick whichever sounds most like where you are right now.

Just Getting Started

You've opened a brokerage account but aren't sure what to do next. Our introductory sessions cover asset allocation basics without assuming you already know what beta means.

Building Confidence

You've made some investments and want to understand if your strategy actually makes sense. These webinars focus on portfolio construction and common pitfalls we see repeatedly.

Refining Your Approach

You're comfortable with the fundamentals but want deeper analysis. We tackle factor investing, behavioral finance, and other topics that go beyond standard advice.

Still Not Sure?

That's completely normal. Most participants attend a beginner session first, even if they've been investing for years. You can always adjust your level as you figure out what you actually need.

How We Got Here

1
Early 2023

The First Awkward Session

We started with twelve people in a Zoom room and a slide deck that was way too technical. Half the questions were about things we'd skipped over. That failure taught us more than any success could have.

2
Fall 2023

Figuring Out the Format

After six months of trial and error, we rebuilt everything around actual participant questions. Instead of lecturing for forty-five minutes, we now spend thirty on core concepts and reserve time for real discussion.

3
Throughout 2024

Building a Library

We recorded sessions and made them available to anyone who'd attended live. People started using them as references when they needed to remember specific concepts. That wasn't the original plan, but it worked.

What Comes Next

This year we're adding topic-specific series and bringing in guest perspectives. The goal isn't growth for its own sake—it's creating more useful conversations about investment theory that actually help people make decisions.

What Our Sessions Actually Cover

Rather than list abstract topics, here's what a typical webinar sequence looks like. We build concepts progressively so you're not lost if you miss one session.

Understanding Portfolio Mechanics

We start with the math behind diversification because it's less obvious than most people think. Why does combining two volatile assets sometimes reduce overall risk? What happens when correlations break down during market stress?

These aren't theoretical questions. They show up every time you have to decide whether your portfolio is actually diversified or just looks that way on paper.

Behavioral Patterns and Real Decisions

Investment theory breaks down when fear or excitement take over. We spend time on behavioral finance—not because it's trendy, but because it explains why smart people make predictable mistakes.

You'll recognize your own patterns here. Most participants do. And recognizing them is the first step toward making decisions that align with your actual goals instead of your momentary feelings.

Who Leads These Sessions

Astrid Keough, Lead Instructor for Wjorgen investment webinars

Astrid Keough

Lead Instructor

Astrid spent eight years analyzing portfolios for institutional clients before realizing that most educational content skips over the parts people actually struggle with. She started these webinars in 2023 because she kept having the same conversations with friends who didn't know where else to ask basic questions.

Her approach is straightforward—explain the concept, show why it matters in practice, then answer every question until it makes sense. She's better at breaking down complex ideas than making them sound impressive, which turns out to be more valuable anyway.
